Animal Parade on the March

Last night, 26 April, the Save Doonies campaign met again at the Cove Bay Hotel.

Campaign co-ordinator John Sleigh said: “This is yet another very productive meeting, this campaign has really started to take off.

“It was decided that there will be a Save Doonies presence at the Aberdeen Against the Cuts march and rally on 5 April.

“Friends of Doonies are to hit the streets with an Animal Parade like no other.

“We want people to dress up as animals. This is because it would be too dangerous to take the real ones.

“Everyone is invited to come out and join the campaign dressed up as any animal under the sun.

“I am calling on the citizens of Aberdeen to raid their dressing up boxes.

“We are also asking any drama or theatre group if they have a pantomime horse to lend a hoof.

“Do not worry if costumes are not your thing. The Save Doonies Campaign have banners and t-shirts being made for anyone not wanting to dress up.

“I can guarantee Aberdeen has never had an Animal Parade quite like it.”

Speaking from the stables this morning Colin the Clydesdale horse said “This is Naaay a bad idea”

Derek the Duck added: “You would be quackers to miss it”

The next meeting of the Save Doonies campaign is be held on Tuesday 1 April at 7.30pm at the Cove Bay Hotel.

A team of representatives from the council have promised to attend.

Hopes are high that the council and the campaign can work together to set out a sustainable future for the farm.

Once again, all meetings are open to anyone who has an interest in saving Doonies Farm.

Anyone who wants to help should contact John Sleigh at savedoonies@googlemail.com
